Pinewood is a seven-acre site, located in mature woodland in the Shirley / Addiscombe hills area , and is close to Croydon, Bromley and South East London and within 3 miles of both Bearswood and Frylands Scouts centres.

A key attraction of Pinewood is that hire is for the exclusive use of the site, which means that Groups can plan and deliver their activities and camps without disturbance from other users.

Pinewood indoor facilities include a large hall, camping area, new showers, boiler and heating system, a large equipped kitchen and meeting rooms. The facilities are open for hire to all Scout members, with the hall area capable of being used for indoor archery and air rifle ranges.

Outdoor ranges for archery, air rifle and tomahawk have all been upgraded in 2022 and are available to groups possessing their own equipment and instructors.

A unique feature of Pinewood is our accessible and safe lake for paddlesports and other water activities. Pinewood has a fleet of kayak and canoes and all necessary safety equipment.

Groups not having access to their own equipment and instructors can hire these in, via our arrangements with local external providers if required.

In addition to these activities Pinewood has a dedicated camping area behind the hall that is suitable for Patrol Tent style camping.

Pioneering materials are available for use around the site, with the woodland area being ideal for shelter building, bushcraft, backwoods cooking and wide games activities.

The entire site is a wonderful oasis of nature and tranquility that serves as an ideal venue for learning, reflection, team building and training.
