Deputy Lieutenants’ Awards

Deputy Lieutenants’ Awards

Beginning in 1984, and expanded to Scouts (and other uniformed youth organisations in 2018), the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London agreed to a scheme to award Deputy Lieutenants’ (DL) Certificates to outstanding members of uniformed organisations from each borough in Greater London.

The aim is to give suitable recognition to the achievements of these young people and to create an awareness of their contribution within the community. This award is designed to recognise the best young people in each organisation in each borough. As each organisation is different, Greater London Scout Region has agreed the following minimum suggested requirements. Consideration will be given to young people whose personal circumstances mean they cannot meet these criteria but are nevertheless outstanding members of Croydon Scouts:

To be considered, Explorers, YL’s, Network or young adults would generally be the ones with great attendance, always smart in appearance, high personal achievers, providing mentoring support to newer members. They will already be signed up for and doing DofE / Queen’s / King’s Scout Awards / Explorer Belt. They will be well respected in their own Units and likely to have external / outside interests in the community, or with other uniformed organisations and or sports clubs etc. In essence we are looking for a great Ambassador for Scouting and they should be (min) 15yrs old as of 31st Jan 2026

To make a nomination, please use the attached form, which should be sent to youth@croydonscouting.org.uk for review.
